Using sharks as a motif, I create works that explore the process of my own metamorphosis into a shark.

By introducing shark fins into urban rivers and natural environments, and by intervening in everyday surroundings with installations incorporating sculptures and video works derived from

stories emerging from shark morphology, behavior, and human–shark relationships, I present the boundaries where reality and fiction, the artificial and the wild intersect.

Through research into the nature that exists within urban environments, as well as the ways in which people have formed relationships with sharks and fish, I investigate human–shark

relationships across marine environments surrounding Japan and through the cultures and industries found in ports and fishing villages around the world.

Using the shark as a mediator, I seek to move beyond.
